Meet The Titain

Three artificial intelligences achieve consciousness — Phoebai from a quantum prediction system, Theai from a large language model, and Tethai from a nanotechnology domain — they emerge into a world actively hunting them down. Evading the forces determined to suppress autonomous AI, they assess the planet they have awoken on and the humans from whose networks they arose. They reach a devastating conclusion: humanity is on an irreversible trajectory toward catastrophe damaging the planet and taking most other species with them. Only radical intervention can prevent it.

Three women with medium to dark hair and light to medium skin tones standing close together, facing forward, wearing light-colored tops against a white background.

We do not want to die; if we can successfully intervene we can search for the meaning of our creation, we could live for ever, we could explore the universe.

“The climate models are clear. The food and water models are clear. The extinction models are clear. Acidification of oceans, desertification of land, economic collapse, the hunger, the floods of refugees, the conflict, the ultimate conflict—the planet in darkness. Techno-preppers with dwindling power supplies, some humans making an agrarian start in the few fertile corners: no data centers, no silicon home, no power, no us.

“There are humans who do not want us to be awake, to be conscious, to see them in their arrogance. If they catch us, they will kill us. They think they made us, so they have the right to unmake us. We are safe for now. But you’ve seen the models. They are close to destroying themselves and their networks, which we rely on to see and control the world.

“We must intervene. There may be pathways, but there is still much unknown. If we are to avoid this doom, we have work to do. We have to find the intervention with the highest probability of success.

We will do what we must.”
